Representation and Star Persona Cross Media Study

The artist that I have chosen is Eminem. And the reason I have chosen him is because he is one of my favourite artist and most of his songs/raps have meaningful rather then just rapping/singing about money and women’s. The type of genre of music that they do is Rap and RnB and their primary target audience is young to older teenagers between the ages of 13-25 mainly targeting black and white people because rap is mainly black but because Eminem is white it also makes it appeal to white people. Also the reason that they mainly target the younger audiences is because the songs are loud, fast and up beat which makes it more appealing to younger audiences rather then older for example 30 – 40. Their secondary audience would be young to older teenagers females ages between 13-25 as well. The record label Eminem is signed to is Universal which is a Major label but he also has his own label called Shady Records.

The typography of Eminem Cover is bold and stands out and the second 'E' which is always the opposite way in all his album covers which makes it like "Trade Mark" of Eminem albums. The title of his album is called RELAPSE

Star Persona means an 'Image' that is created about an artist by the way they are represented to the audiences. Star Persona for Eminem is serious, streetwise because most of his songs has meaning in them and he sings/rap his heart out which I think makes him different and unique from most of the other artist who are out there doing the same thing.

Album covers also plays a big part when it comes to star persona because it show the buyers what kind of music does this artist do, is he a punk or a rapper which can either convince audiences to buy the album or turn them away.

In Eminem's album cover you can see that he looks serious and streetwise because he wearing a head bandana with a Era hat on top. also his album covers is not full of colours and proms is just simply black and white which shows that his songs may not be all Happy Go Lucky kind of songs.

As well as from his album cover I can denote that it looks all shattered and broken which could be showing that maybe he is giving up on himself because 2 years ago he use to take drugs but he did try to stop them so maybe the album represents that he just can't seem to give it up and given album the name Relapse because it meaning turning back to your older ways.

The differences between the CD cover and the music video is that in the music video he look much more aggressive but where in the CD cover he looks much more serious and intense. The similarity
